Gary Neal, head of fire, Skanska UK, will give the JCT Povey Lecture webinar 2022, with a presentation entitled, “Building Safety Act – Practical Steps for Compliance in Construction” on Thursday, 10th November 2022.
The Building Safety Act and its impact on both projects and construction contracts will be under consideration, with Gary Neal providing practical guidance on the impact of the legislation on construction projects and the best approach required for practitioners to achieve compliance.
The presentation will be essential viewing for construction professionals looking to make sense of the legislation, its requirements, and how to adopt best practice on their projects.
Following Gary’s presentation, he will join a panel discussion hosted by JCT chair, Karen Kirkham, and featuring Amanda Long, chief executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Building a Safer Future, and Construction Product Information Ltd.
The panel discussion will also incorporate an audience Q&A in which viewers can take part via the online interface live during the event.
This year will be the twentieth JCT Povey Lecture, which was inaugurated in 2003 to acknowledge and pay tribute to Philip Povey, who served JCT for fifty years.
The expansion of the event to include a presentation and panel discussion, and the evolution of the format to a digital platform, continues the tradition of the Povey Lecture in bringing eminent speakers on vital topics to a construction audience, but enables an even greater range of discussion and accessibility to a wider audience.
JCT is honored this year to invite Gary Neal and Amanda Long who both bring a deep range of knowledge and experience on this topic, providing vital information for anyone in the industry impacted by the Building Safety Act.
JCT chair, Karen Kirkham, said:
“The legislation coming in the Building Safety Act is of pressing concern to the entire industry. This timely update from Gary Neal, and discussion with both Gary and Amanda Long, will provide JCT guests with essential practical information ahead of the legislation coming into force.”
The JCT Povey Lecture webinar takes place at 4.00 p.m. on Thursday, 10 November 2022. To receive an invite, join the JCT Network at www.jctltd.co.uk/network-signup
