JCT has created a Covid-19 hub online containing information resources for construction professionals and contracting parties who are considering the impact of Covid-19 on their existing projects or are preparing contract documents for new projects.
The situation with Covid-19 has been changing and moving rapidly as the wider implications on the industry are being considered from a legal perspective.
The content, which contains articles from JCT and relevant content from other industry bodies, aims to keep construction professionals up-to-date with useful information. The content featured broadly covers the following areas:
- General information on the pandemic and construction, the Covid-19 timeline, and contracts entered into prior to the foreseeable effect of the pandemic on the industry.
- Summary of the guidance from UK Government and other industry bodies, including the Construction Industry Council (CLC).
- Impact on future projects and contract provisions that need to be considered.
The hub builds on the content first published by JCT during the pandemic back in April 2020, and JCT aims to keep the page regularly updated with new information as it becomes available.
JCT chief executive, Neil Gower, said:
“The impact impact of the Covid -19 pandemic on the construction industry is likely to be felt for sometime, leading to many issues for contracting parties to consider.
“JCT has created the Covid-19 hub as a focal point to provide easily accessible useful information for contract users, so that they are able to keep fully up to date as the situation continues to develop over time.”
The JCT Covid-19 hub can be found from the JCT corporate site homepage, corporate.jctltd.co.uk, or directly from corporate.jctltd.co.uk/covid-19.
