JCT will be hosting its first Construction Industry Parliamentary Reception since the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on the future of the construction industry and support for young professionals.
The event, taking place on Friday, 17 June 2022, is an exclusive occasion for JCT’s members and guests, celebrating the achievements of JCT and the wider industry, raising awareness of important issues or new developments, and an opportunity to thank those professionals involved in making JCT a success.
This year’s event will highlight the future of the built environment and JCT’s role in bringing through and supporting the next generation of industry leaders.
JCT is already playing a significant role in the support of young professionals and those entering the industry, with both the establishment of the JCT Young Professionals Group (YPG) and the expansion of JCT’s range of training services.
JCT YPG is a network for those primarily in the first ten years of their construction career, regardless of age, and brings together professionals across all sectors of the industry to provide peer-to-peer networking opportunities, talks from industry leaders and experts, and a members-only online portal including articles, resources, videos, white papers, and more.
JCT Training provides contract users with a range of tools to develop their knowledge and understanding of the contract process and specific contract families. The range has expanded to include full-day in-person courses, 3-hour webinar courses, and a range of on demand video modules providing an introductory overview.
JCT recognises its unique position in the industry in bringing many disciplines together and its important role in ensuring the development and support of those embarking on their construction career.
JCT chair, Karen Kirkham, who will give a welcome address at the Parliamentary Reception, said:
“It’s great to be able to welcome JCT members and guests back for our first face-to-face event for over two years.
“We believe that participating in the development of those entering the construction industry, including adequate support for our future leaders and innovators, is one of the most effective contributions which JCT can make to meeting the challenges ahead, and goes to the core of JCT’s role within the industry beyond the provision of our contract suite.”
